Liberty Insurance today announced a major new dimension to its partnership with the GAA and Camogie Associations.
The award-winning sponsor, who in 2013 brought together the sports of Hurling and Camogie for the first time, confirmed that they will insure the All-Ireland winners’ medals across Hurling, Gaelic Football and Camogie against loss or theft during the lifetime of their sponsorship, up to and including the 2017 Championships.
"Liberty Insurance is in the business of providing reassurance, security and support to our customers by protecting what is important. For football, hurling and camogie players who have dedicated their lives to Gaelic games, an All Ireland medal is the ultimate reward for their hard work and dedication. We are proud to support them by insuring medals won during the lifetime of our sponsorship” said Annette Ni Dhathlaoi, Head of Marketing, at today’s announcement.
Details of the new All-Ireland medal insurance initiative were announced by brothers and sisters from both codes including Kilkenny’s Tommy Walsh, his brother and sister, Padraig and Grace; and Clare’s Maâireâ McGrath and her brother Conor, who won his first ever All-Ireland Senior medal last September.
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Liam Ó Néill welcomed the announcement by Liberty Insurance: "I welcome this most innovative initiative from Liberty who will help bring peace of mind to players who are lucky enough to win All-Ireland medals.
"It marries what Liberty Insurance do day in day out and it connects their support of the hurling and camogie championships with those who do most to illuminate them, namely the players. I look forward to the remainder of what I have no doubt will be another excellent championship and I acknowledge Liberty Insurance's support in helping to make it the spectacle it will be."
