Tyre brand Continental has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) to become an official partner of women’s soccer.

The German company’s UK and Ireland arm will become the main supporter of the Irish women’s national soccer team and title sponsor of the Women’s National League competition, which will be renamed as the Continental Tyres Women's National League.

The deal also includes naming rights to the Continental Tyres Women's FAI Cup, the Continental Tyres Women's Senior FAI Cup and the FAI's Elite Camps for youth players.

Continental will also roll out its ContiWarmUp online coaching resource in Ireland.

Guy Frobisher, Continental Tyres’ marketing director for region north, said: "Continental has a long history of supporting football at every level from senior international through to club level and right down to grass roots and community football programmes, so we are delighted to extend that support to Ireland by becoming the official partner of women's football here.”

The new Continental Tyres Women's National League season kicks off on Sunday.
